What is faith-based pledging?
At Christ church, we honor faith-based pledging. This means that your pledge is strictly between you and God. Nobody else knows what you have commited to give for the coming year. Some people may give $150 per week while others pledge $5 per week. Whatever, the amount, the pledge is based on a prayerful conversation with God.
The vestry determines its annual budget based on a review of the previous years of overall giving, but as a community, we trust in the Spirit that we will have what we need for the coming year. The math is not guaranteed ahead of time, and this is part of our living in the Gospel.
Every person who claims Christ Church as their spiritual home is invited to make a financial commitment to our community's work and ministry. There are no dues or entrance fees required to be a member of the community. Most people give either weekly or monthly as a part of their commitment to worship and serve God in one another.
We do pray over pledges sealed in envelopes every year as a sign of our gratitude and commitment for the year to come. At the end of the year, your sealed pledge envelop is returned to you, and nobody has opened it. Your pledge card is the outward and visible sign of the inward, spiritual commitment between you and God. By placing it on the altar, you are sealing that commitment and demonstrating your faithfulness to God and to your spiritual home, Christ Church.
How do I start giving?
Please drop Trudy Bush an email at christrb@aol.com or call the office at 310 540-1722 to get you a pledging packet.
It's easy!
- First take time to pray with God about your pledge. We usually do this in the months of Nov. and Dec., as a community, but anytime you are ready is fine.
- After you decide what you are willing to pledge for the coming year, drop a line to Trudy or give her a call to help you get setup with the rest of the process so that you can receive pledge envelopes that allow you to receive a statement of your gifts to the church for your tax records.
Come worship with us, talk to us, or e-mail us to share your ideas on stewardship, or learn how to grow your relationship with the God who loves and dwells within each and every human being.
